"On Day 1, it was noticeable that many posters from European grid operators were presenting new ideas about flexibility and in-home optimization. Or sharing lessons learned from energy sharing within energy communities.
On Day 2, a presentation stood out featuring thought-provoking quotes. For example: the energy transition requires long-term thinking, while politics only thinks in the short term. By standardizing as much as possible in market and flexibility processes, many intermediaries become unnecessary, which reduces costs.
On Day 3, a presentation on lessons learned from the past ten years of working with energy management systems stood out. Lessons learned:
- Always make sure to have a (locally running) backup.
- Ensure your components are not all from a single supplier or manufacturer.
- Plan ahead for scaling up, even if it's not yet on the roadmap."
